Do we have any members in Alabama; if so did you get nailed by the Tornados???

I really hope not, If so, I hope your all ok, if your there...

My mother just called me and told me my Aunt and Uncle's house is totally gone...
He lives in Enterprise...
My uncle was at work a few towns away, so he wasn't really in danger... However, my aunt and a few of my cousins were home... They hid in the basement under some steps and hung on for life... How fricken scarey would that be!!!
They said it blew away everything away that was on top or ground level... Blew one of the cars over and all the windows out of the other....
Thankfully, they only had some minor scrapes, cuts and maybe Soiled panties...

Its really upsetting to see people (especially people you know) lose their home and everyhting...
They were not well off and did not have much anyway...

I keep telling myself I need to be more prepared for this type of thing, but I don't know if you ever can....

Just a heads up... Take a look a what you have... See what you need...

"it did not feel right all day, upper 60's and very humid. makes a person get on edge."

Seems like you have a good sense of danger. I know what you mean, for some reason you know when it's warm and humid its fine then you know when it's not. I tend to get jumpy.

I've only truly felt the need to go into the basement once in my life during a storm. There was a tornado warning, but they are commonplace during the spring and summer so I ignored it until I looked outside and saw the sky alien green to the north, and black.. I mean jet black to the west. People say the sky gets black, well they really mean BLACK. I remember peeking out the window in the basement and the wind was blowing so bad outside from the south and it was dark, and it sounded like someone was upstairs with workboots on jumping up and down on the floor. Then the wind blew very hard from the northwest, then from the north for maybe a minute, then back from the south and then the sun came out. I lost a few trees but the wind was so strong I couldn't hear any of them snapping and falling. I also don't remember hearing much thunder, just the horrible wind. It missed me by probably 3/4 of a mile, but I went the next day to see the damage it caused and I never though I'd see something like that in person. Slate roofing shingles through telephone poles, houses gone, cars flipped over and wadded up, trees stripped of leaves and branches and bark just standing there like a pole, a 200 ft tall smokestack snapped off at the base like a pencil, but the one directly next to it still standing. I wanted to go further but the tornado crossed the road and was completely impassible. It looked like 100 people drove up and dumped off their brush piles in the road. I have pictures of all this someplace. Luckilly up here a storm like that is a rarity, and I hope I never see one again ever.

realassets,
You hit the nail on the head..."alien green".

I've only seen one tornado in my life (one too many), and I'll never forget the freaky green color the sky got just before it struck. I'm not sure what causes it, but when you see it, you know something bad is about to happen.

Prayers go out to those affected by today's storms.
